Meet The MC
Julia Roberts, MSc,
Creativity Speaker/Coach, Author
Hi, I'm Julia. I'm a writer who just couldn't write sometimes. It was painful.
I had to figure it out.
For me, that became an 8+ year journey - beginning with the publishing of my 2nd book - through coach training, creativity coach training, and finally through my Masters in Science in Creative Studies. Now, I know what writers need to get writing... keep writing.
I share my expertise with writers. I choose to empower writers' voices. We are the weirdos and witnesses the world needs to hear more from.
I promise this event will not be boring
I share in our writers' respect for the writer's journey and the importance of writers' voices
7 Minutes of A Storied View into a Writer's World - An Hour Sharing the Vision
Meet the Writers
Our writers have been getting together every day for weeks to write for an hour as part of the 100 Writing Days of Summer program, now in its third year. We toil away, each on our own work, connected by intention and respect for the writer's journey. We have each made great strides, and have a polished 7 minutes to share with you. We hope to entrance and entertain you.
Destiny Deferred
Martha Rand
Martha began working with tarot and astrology in her early teens. She learned originally through her family, which combines Celtic, English, Eastern European, Jewish and deep American roots.
Her flash fiction has been anthologized and she has written professional pieces for psychology and astrology publications.
As a psychotherapist and coach, her work is both trauma-informed and healing centered.
A Day in the Life of Death
Dean Landsman
There was a story idea kicking around, saved on every computer storage medium since 1980. It was looked at sometimes as the storage media changed (remember zip drives?) and had grown ever so little.
Just before the pandemic hit, I took a look at it and jumped into it headfirst. What began as a short little funny story has since morphed into a three-generation historical novel.
Working with Julia has given me focus on my writing and an expansive look at being a writer.
An early career in radio as a deejay led to running a broadcast consulting firm, then owning a radio station. Later, I worked at Telecom, in online development, Digital Strategy, Personal Data and online identity management and security.
Arrival
Michael Shyka
I am a sentient Artist expressing self as Novelist, dedicated to beauty & truths.
Experienced in cottage industry luxury fashion, I have mastered the art of hand-painting silk yardage. My writing subject matter consists of crafting as a lifestyle & mentally, layered with deepening human themes.
This summer I felt rewarded to take part in Julia Robert’s 100 Writing Days of Summer. I am completing a final revision of my manuscript and hope to submit a series of query letters to prospective agents.
Untitled
Heidi Hunter
I am an artist, creative flow facilitator, and somatic instructor who has moved from paralyzing fear of the blank page, to writing a book. Recessitate - Coming Back To Life Through Connected Play will be part illustrated memoir/part playbook, celebrating creative expression as a healing and transformative tool accessible to everyone.
I began 100 Writing Days of Summer committed to showing up each day with a playful approach and enjoy writing in community. I’ve loved challenging my creativity chops by incorporating Julia’s daily prompts into my memoir. I hope to test the waters for my memoir writing in these public reading sessions.

She Loved a Good Lobster Roll
Susan Shatz
Raised in Brooklyn, New York, during the 60's, a grade school teacher helped me publish a poem in Redbook Magazine. But I never buckled down to take myself seriously.
After college, I worked and lived in Cambridge, MA and then in New York City. I worked long hours in the entertainment industry.
In Los Angeles, I began "ghost writing" script coverage for top talent agents and then international distribution and production companies before going freelance. Then I taught young people for a decade.
I found myself enrolled at UCLA Extension's Writing Program's Non-Fiction department. I wish to finish my memoir and personal essays and ready them for publication. That's where 100 Writing Days of Summer enters the scene.
